So much has happened!

During the Tuscan Harvet

During the Tuscan Harvet

Reality - much has happened since I last wrote in this space.

Last year I organised and exhibited in the A PASSION FOR ART exhibition which was run in conjunction with Cambridge Rotary, this was a total success.

Cambridge Rotary and Carey Church can be commended for the manner in which this Cambridge event was publicised. It was brilliant and thank you Cambridge Rotary.

I have been busy painting , had strong interest and good sales at A PASSION FOR ART and had the best of help from artist Kirsten Mcintosh. Consequently Kirsten and I had an exhibition during the Cambridge Autumn Festival, for two days April 1 and 2.

It was so warm and friendly with many people arriving at our doors. Off shoots from that exhibition was a variety commissions, with sales of art and other merchandise.

Kirsten and I will repeat this (but as a ‘four of us’) on November 18 and 19 2023 with Jo Beckett, our fantastic potter here in Cambridge and the Cambridge Society of Arts.

I am available anytime for a private viewing and commissions. I have special photo books here of my work and you can select the painting you might like and I will reproduce a similar (but not identical) painting for you.

Yes, I am a Fauve artist from that period early 1900’s, but I am also passionate about the German Expressionists. It was a book, in German, that I found on Jutta Marks bookshelf, probably 25 years ago that set me in this direction.

German Expressionist Art can be described as “ Early twentieth century German Art Movement  that emphasises the artists inner feelings or ideas over replicating reality, and was characterised by simplified shapes bright colours and gestural marks or brush strokes.“

Look for Ernst Kirchner, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, classic examples of what I am talking about.

I am lucky enough to have an ongoing painting exhibited at Onyx Restaurant, changing about every three weeks so you can go and view there if you want to. This is due to the kindness of Terry and his wife Jo, the owners. Onyx is my favoured place to dine, amazing staff and food, comfortable and warm, with, of course one of my paintings overlooking the dining space.

For many many years I have exhibited at Galleries throughout New Zealand but I have stopped doing this. It takes too much preparation, life needs to be easier.

So, Cambridge is the place to see them and call me anytime, I love hearing the stories of people who have seen them all over New Zealand…and the World in fact.

There’s always room for another?

I am also doing centre table mats, these are originals, they are round, and because I love doing them, they are reasonably priced, sold quite a few , in fact all of them at our recent exhibition.

Look forward to chatting with you and catching up with you soon.
